Landscape design students at the Hashemite University from module ARCH 451 Human Behaviour in Architecture have supported the first phase of the public space package of the Surfacing Zarqa project (October 2024 – January 2025).
Trained by Dr Hala Ghanem and UN Habitat Jordan, students conducted site specific assessments of an existing public space in Zarqa. This space had been identified by the municipality as needing intervention, redesign and investment, and was allocated to the project. Along with site specific assessments, students conducted numerous community consultations, producing design recommendations for the public space based on these findings.
